Our Mission.

Not everyone has the time or patience for a whole book, and some of us don’t want to spend the day watching videos either. Sometimes we just want to sit somewhere quiet and read something that starts, matters and ends before our coffee goes cold. Storyds is for those moments: short stories you can read in peace and finish in one go.

Quiet by design.

No ads

Nothing between you and the story. We don’t sell your data or track you across other apps.

No like counts

Stories don’t show likes or comments, so there’s no popularity contest and no noise. Just the story.

Safe to read

Report a story or block a writer in one tap. Reports are private, and we review every one.

Your data stays yours

Reading history and drafts stay on your phone. Delete your account and everything in it any time.

Questions, answered.

What is Storyds?

Storyds is a free iPhone app for reading and writing short stories. Every story fits in one sitting, so you can start one on the bus and finish it before your stop.

How long is a Storyds story?

Up to 1,200 words, about a six-minute read. Many are shorter: the Quick read tab collects stories you can finish in about a minute.

Is Storyds free?

Yes. Reading and writing are free, and there are no ads.

Can I read the stories without the app?

Yes. Every story published in the app also appears on the Stories page of this site, and you don’t need an account to read.

How do I publish my own short story?

Open the Write tab in the app, write up to 1,200 words, choose a genre and add a cover photo if you like. Once you publish, it appears in the app and on this site.

Who owns the stories I publish?

You do. See the Terms of Service for what publishing lets Storyds do with your story.

Can I write dark stories?

Yes, there’s a whole Dark genre. Fiction can go to hard places; what isn’t allowed is content made only to shock or hurt. The Community Guidelines explain where the line is.

Is Storyds on Android?

Not yet. Storyds is iPhone-only for now.

Your next favorite story is a swipe away.

Storyds is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone.
